Helping individuals who have been impacted by extreme trauma to move forward

In my early twenties, I survived an unexpected, life-changing event. It gave me first-hand experience of what it is like to try to keep on living, let along functioning well, in the wake of extreme trauma.

Something that became clear to me over time was that there were few maps of the post-trauma landscape. No one can tell you how to navigate a life fundamentally different from the one you thought you were going to live, and few clinicians have direct experience of this road, either.

After this event, I went on to obtain a Bachelor of Social Work with first class honours, and then a PhD in International Health. I now have 25 years of practical experience in this field and have become a leading practitioner and educator in helping people learn how navigate a way forward after extreme trauma (no matter how long it has been since the traumatic event), so that they can move from surviving to thriving once more.

Individual counselling

Being reactive, withdrawn, unable to express your needs in your personal relationships; experiencing depression, anxiety, PTSD; behaving in ways that don’t serve you (alcohol, drugs, sex); having problems in your relationships

My HOPE based approach supports you to understand the social, biological and emotional aspects of your experiences and develop strategies that support you to master your symptoms rather than having them master you.

Individual counselling sessions range from 45 - 60 minutes and can take place in person or online.

OBJECTIVES

You will develop deeper insight into your thoughts, feelings and behaviours and develop strategies to manage and master them.
